Growing a Galaxy

As astrophysicists came to realize that massive black holes reside in the center of most galaxies, they also determined that these black holes play a major role in a galaxy's evolution. This simulation depicts our best knowledge to date of how interactions between matter and black holes formed galaxies similar to our own Milky Way.
