But the extent of vitamin D’s health benefits is disputed—and some even argue that the vitamin can be detrimental to health in high enough doses. An upcoming clinical trial in the United States called the VITAL study aims to pin down the effects of vitamin D on the body, specifically in relation to cancer and bone health.
